Why we exist...
Nigeria is not short of educational institutions or graduates. Its universities, polytechnics and colleges award large numbers of degrees, diplomas and certificates every year. Yet many graduates, particularly in technical subjects, leave education unprepared for real work.
The cause is not a lack of ability or effort. It is a lack of context. Principles are taught, but rarely in the setting where they are used: there is too little industry to learn from, too few tutors with industrial experience, curricula built around subjects rather than tasks, and assessment of recall rather than performance.
The result is a gap between qualification and capability. Individuals hold certificates that do not open doors. Organisations retrain new staff or look abroad for expertise. And the sectors that matter most to the nation cannot find enough people ready to design, build, operate, maintain and protect their systems

Our Answer
JEDA Academy was established to close that gap. We teach principles together with the practice and context that make them usable: real tasks, real standards, real case studies and realistic scenarios, taught by people who have done the work and assessed on what learners can actually do. Because we are the education and capacity-building arm of an aerospace and defence company, we are built inside industry rather than alongside it.

JEDA Academy is part of JEDA Systems Ltd, a Nigerian aerospace and defence company and MOD-Approved Solution Provider (RC 7116464). JEDA Systems works in surveillance and ISR drone development and defence industrial manufacturing. Its engineering and operational experience shapes what we teach and how we teach it.
Our Founder
Dr Joel Adams is the founder of JEDA Academy. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and a former commissioned officer in the Royal Air Force. He holds a PhD in industrial engineering from the University of Cambridge and an MSc in systems and aerospace engineering from Imperial College London. His career combines operational, technical and strategic experience in military aviation systems, advanced manufacturing and defence programme management, including contributions to the development of strategic UK defence capability programmes. He founded JEDA Academy to close the gap between qualification and capability that he sees in Nigeria’s technical workforce
